Hi Jasmine,
Wearing a saree can be a little tough at first, especially if you do not have anyone to show you how to wrap it! We have a step by step video available that shows two of the most popular ways to wear a saree. It is narrated in English. You can check that video out here:
http://www.pardesifashions.com/Sari/howtowearsari.aspx
Also, if you are looking for any further information you can check out the Institute for Draped Cloth's website. They have a few resources available including a book about so many different kinds of saree wear: http://www.idcw.org.uk/
Furthermore, you might find some more information at momwiz's site: http://www.momwiz.com/Parlour/patterns.htm
Hope that helps! |

Hi
I just wanted to say that I bought this video for an American friend of mine. She wanted to wear saree sometimes but did not have someone to show her how to wear it all the time. I got this as a Christmas present for her and she loves it. It really seemed to help her with it and she is getting very good at putting the saree on these days. |

Hi Jasmine.
If you understand what are the steps in wearing saree you can easily practice everyday it would be easy afterthat.
According to my knowledge there are some steps.
stpe 1 .
check the bottom of saree from wheer you will find fall attached to bottom of saree.
then round saree around your waist.only circle first.
Step 2
After making circle take pallo means front of saree and make plates and then put on left shoulder.
.
step 3 from where you are making plates for pin it then make plates becuse first time it's not easy to make plaetes the after making pinthe plates so you can hold easily and then tucked in .
For steps in detailed you can check this site where you will get whole method along with pictures.

Hi,
http://www.gagan.com/howtowear/sarinstrc1.html
Check this site and you wear it yourself without any difficulty.
http://www.i-ndianwebmart.com/iw_drapesaree.asp
1.It is better to make pleats and then pin on the shoulder for going to work as it is easier to manage.
2. For other occasions, like weddings or parties, drape the saree without pleats on the shoulder.
3. Do not use elastic on your under-skirt.
4. Short ladies should go for sarees with a small border or preferably no border at all as big borders tend to make a person look shorter.
5. Stiff sarees can make thin women more full-bodied.
6. Sarees made of more flowing materials like Mysore silk or Georgette can make you look slimmer.
7. A pin can be used to hold the pleats that are tucked in to the under-skirt, to prevent them from slipping.
8. Don't be discouraged if your first attempt at draping a saree isn't a success. Try again as it takes practice for some people to master the art of draping a saree. |
